Astrology, or “study of the stars”, is the observation and interpretation of the movement of the planets,  against a backdrop of the fixed stars of the zodiac, from any position on earth.  It is an ancient science dating back to Mesopotamia, to a time when people considered the Sun and Moon to be Gods.
It pre-dates astronomy and has been studied and practiced throughout the world for thousands of years.
Initial observations of the heavens led to the development of an early time system that enabled people to understand and work with the seasons. The first example of a personal horoscope dates back to 410 BCE.
Over the years astrology has evolved according to the social, religious and political climate of the times. It can be used in a wide variety of ways and is far more complex than the Sun Sign columns popularised by the media in recent times.
Astrology provides a symbolic language that uses the position of the planets and heavenly bodies, along with their relationship with each other, in order to interpret the characteristics of a particular moment in time.

“Astrology is astronomy brought down to earth and applied to the affairs of men.”
